Station Square: Rush Hour

Knuckles the Echidna just stepped foot on top of a roof, and already he hated this city. So noisy, so over-populated, so smelly, so cluttered, and so...so stupid. He couldn't understand how people can live in this narrow place. It would probably be best if he stayed on the high-grounds.

"Hmph!" Yes, defiantly stay on the high grounds. Those cars don't seem to care who they run over as they almost ran over some people crossing the street. "Idiots..."

So, after adjusting his sunglasses and lifting his dufle bag over his shoulder, Knuckles glided over the streets to search for the Master Emerald pieces.

And further down the street were two bird creatures, one was wearing blue armor, and the other wore a black helmet.


"Man, this is going to be a woreseless gig!" The blue one groan, "We're going to come up empty handed and the Commander will shoot us!"


"Well, I rather be out here there back in the ship or one of our hideouts, I need some fresh air!"


"But how can there be an emerald here?"


"We don't need an emerald, just something that can harness Chaos energy, then the Commander won't put his wrath on us!"


"Where are we going to find that?" The bird sighed, "At least that two-tailed fox is back to distract the commander for a while!"

It was a good thing it was a windy day; the winds kept Knuckles hanging in the air longer than normal. Knuckles' eyes scout the city below, trying to ignore the strange things these people do. Some seem pretty rude; always in a rush for something and yelling at people when they almost ran into them with their cars.

"And Sonic wanted me to get out more? Get out to THIS?" The sooner he gets all the pieces, the better he-

Hark! He suddenly heard cries. Cries by the voices of many...and not the annoying voices he hears below. Knuckles is talking about voices that sounded like whispering singing.

"It's close!"

"Hey Jumpy!" The blue head said.


"I told you not to call me that," The black helmeted nicknamed Jumpy sighed, "But what?"


"What you think that is?" The first said as he pointed at Knuckles gliding in the air.

As he landed on a roof, he noticed a faint glow coming from inside an air-vent machine. Wasting no time, he marched there and punched the machine to bits.

A prize in the box, the floating Emerald Shard was.

"Now how did you get in there?" Knuckles asked, grabbing the shard.

[Alien-Child]

"Ah jeez..." Vector groaned as he walked down the street holding a map, with his team (He hopes he didn't lost them too) possibly following them. "How did I forget where the Casino is? I practically go there every month!"


"C'mon jumpy, I saw something glowing up there!" The bird said as he tried to climb the wall of the building Knuckles is on.


"Uh...than maybe we should use the elevator?"


"Shut-up!"

Espio did follow Vector, but he was walking on the building walls next to where his boss was walking, investigating the map sideways. "And you are sure that you're not holding the map upside-down? Some detective you are." he said, the last part meant as a dry joke rather than an insult.

With one shard in his possession, Knuckles felt confident that the Master Emerald will be restored to its former glory. He continued hovering over the streets, sensing the calls of the shards. His eyes saw something a few blocks down; a green glow from an alley...a glow only he can see until the shard will be fished out of its hiding place.

BOOM!!!

"EEEEK!!!!!" screamed the bee when that 'explosion' roared from the alley next to him. "GUYS! GUYS! We're under attack!! The beavers are coming! The beavers are coming!"

The young bee held onto Espio's head, replacing his pilot hat with an army helmet. "Arm your pigs, soldiers, and don't shoot until you see the whites in their buck-teeth!"

As the younger bee landed on his head, Espio wondered if he should be mildly amused or mildly annoyed with Charmy's antics. He decided on being indifferent, as he calmly pulled Charmy off his head. "I'll check it out. Charmy, make sure Vector doesn't get too lost." Then, as he allowed Charmy to fly free (i.e. dropping him), he turned invisible, and crawled into the alley the "explosion" came from.

"I heard that!" Vector growled as he went back to the map mumbling. During this time, the two Kukkus walk past him and into the alley un notice since he's too focus on the map.


"Explain to me why are we going towards an explosion?"


"Eh, just bored!"

Espio would find a large hole through the concrete. Rocks and concrete pebbles were tossed out of the hole. "Jeez, what are these pipes for? They sure don't smell...oh, here it is!"

Knuckles emerged out of the hole, victorious with an emerald shard in hand. But the moment he saw two of those birds in the alley, Knuckles felt like his privacy was being interupted as he ducked in the hole, glaring at them.

"What?" he threatened them.

"Oh, here's the problem!" Vector laughed, "We're on the wrong street!"


"Um,...yeah," Jumpy nervously as he saw Knuckles, "We heard a explosion and-"


"Give the emeralds now buddy!"


"Smooth Touseki, real smooth!"

Espio, still invisible, shook his head in disbelief. "Those birds have no chance against Knuckles... but why is Knuckles here, anyway, and why is he wearing that hat?" he said to himself, before taking two kunai, binding them together with a string, and then throwing them towards the two birds, intending to lock them against the wall with the string.

Indeed they stood no chance against the hot-headed one. And when one threatens him for the emeralds...you know...

A very low but frightening growled played in his throat as Knuckles slowly stepped out of the hole. If his piercing stare could emit fire, his eyes would cause forest fires across the globe.


Charmy giggled; rolling around in the air. "Wow! That was dummy-dumb, Vector!"

"Way to go idiot!" Jumpy said to the blue one gulping as Knuckles grew engrage, but at that second Espio's attack wraped the string around them and flung them to the wall, knocking them into a daze.


"Can it Charmy!"
