The city of Cornelia; home of the just King of Cornelia, the fair Queen Jayne, and the beautiful Princess Sarah. However, with the coming of the mighty Four Fiends of Chaos, the entire population lives in silent terror, in fear of their fair city becoming the next tagret for the monstrosities. However, visitors, who frequent the town frequently, have no true fear of the Fiends, due to them being travelers; people who have learned to wield a sword or indulge themselves into the arts of the arcane. And this day, a band of travalers, with no knowledge of the others, will meet in what will be known as the beginning of an era. One of the travelers this day was a peculiar one; his face was covered in the shade of a large, pointy hat, as his blue robe nearly sweeped the ground he walked by. He was called Danari Tataru, and was now on his way to the magic shop in town. "Hmm... This should be it." he said to himself, as he came upon a pair of buildings; one of them having a mystic white sigil marked on a sign over the door, whilst the other had a black sigil. "If Cornelia's anything like Elfheim, I think I'm supposed to go in here." he mused, as he opened the door of the black magic shop.

Meanwhile, out in the streets on the other side of the building, two guards met up with each other. "Did you find the thief?" "No, 'it' must have vanished or something!" "Keep looking!" "Losers!" A girl giggles as she sits on the roof watching the two leave, "They can't find me!" She sang, and she looked around, "Where's Ly? If he wants to be on this 'team' he has to keep promises!" CRACK! "Uh-oh!" The girl said as the roof she's on begins to crack, and soon she falls into the store she was hiding on top of, a Black Magic Shop.

"What the- Who're you?!" the shopkeep naturally exclaimed in shock once he saw the girl fall through his ceiling. "My goodness!" Quickly, Danari ran up to the girl, and looked down at her, holding out a helping hand. "How did you fall through there anyway?"

"Uh...thanks!" The girl said as she accepted the black mage's hand, and was helped up. "I was...um...cleaning the gutters for this man!" She lied as she turn to the shop keep, "Yeah! You're gutters, they were really dirty and everything, and thought I can help out!"

"The gutters, huh?" The shopkeep scratched his head, as he looked up towards the gaping hole in his ceiling. "Well, I could've sworn I cleaned those a few days ago... Well, never to worry. Seeing as you broke my ceiling, however, I'm not gonna pay you or anything like that. Consider it fair treatment." Then, he turned to face Danari. "So, little mage, what'll it be?" Danari looked curiously around, before realizing that the shopkeep was talking about him. "Oh, right... So, what spells do you have available?" "Well, let's see here..." the shopkeep said, as he rummaged behind the counter, looking for something, until he found a list. "Well, Castle Cornelia's been having trouble getting any spells above second-tier into town, so all we have available is Fire, Sleep, Thunder and Focus." Danari snapped his fingers in annoyance. "I already know those spells... Sorry to have bothered you, then." he said, before he handed the girl a small pouch, which contained 500 Gil. "Would you give the man this for me?" he whispered into her ear, before he left the building.

Meanwhile, another visitor of Cornelia City roamed around the shop, face hidden from all with her cape. Trailing along was a small white cat with a white ribbon tied around its body. The cat seemed to be guiding the stranger. The cat quietly spoke, as to not spur suspicion, "I think its around here. I was here before; the inn was supposed to be to the east...or was it to the west...? Oh geez, I'm confused." "I suppose it's okay. We can look again later. In the mean time, I would prefer to go to that place over there. Alright, Oharu?" a feminine voice said in the same tone. She pointed toward the Black Magic Shop. Oharu slowly nodded. "If you say so, Talina...maybe we can ask for directions..." "Not what I was planning, Oharu, but I suppose we can do that too." Talina walked over to the shop as a black mage exited. She stared at him for a moment before entering the shop.

"Sure!" The girl evilly smiled as she pockets the pouch when Denari wasn't looking or the shop-keep. When the mage left, the girl walk out the door, "Bye sir! Sorry again for the hole!" She shouted as she exited, but she bumped into somebody. "OOF!"

As the sun played golden rays over the mountains just before the horizon, Alkim stepped foot inside the town's gates, smiling wearily as he finally found a town where he could rest his exhausted bones. As much as he loved it, traveling was tiring unlike anything else. Ah, especially as the bridge to the next continent had apparently been destroyed, hindering his process through the world as he wanted to see everything. At least he could rest in this castle town, seemingly peaceful and welcoming. And full of diversity too, he noted with amusement, as what appeared to be a young black mage exited a local shop, and another one darting about. Lovely! He immediately started looking around for an inn where he could unload his heavy bag and find a good night's rest...

Danari sighed as he looked at the sky, clutching something in his pocket. "Oh, Sage Lukahn, if you were here now, what would you tell me to do?" he said sadly, as he pulled out whatever was in his pocket, which turned out to be a small, blue crystal, radiating a gentle glow. "Strange... why is it glowing all of a sudden?" he mused, as he stuffed it into his pocket again. -- Inside the store again, the shopkeep sighed as another girl entered his store. "Ah, welcome to Cornelia's Black Magic store. What can I interest you in, young lady?" he asked out of politeness, wondering why the other girl had to leave in such a hurry.

Talina was barely hurt or at the very least interested in the girl. She sent the girl a glare before entering the shop, as though nothing happened. "May I ask if you have a thunder spell?" she questioned. Before following her friend, Oharu smiled at the girl. "Meow!" She WOULD talk to the girl, apologizing for Talina's...unhospitable tactics, but Oharu knew it wasn't wise.

"Ah, yes, Thunder... Hold up a minute." the shopkeep said, as he pulled out a rather small booklet, searched through it for a while, and pointed his finger at a spot on it. "Yes, you'll find the Thunder spells over there." he said, pointing towards a shelf not too far from where the girl stood. "Just bring it over here, and I'll remove the anti-theft ward I seal these books with, so you can pay for it."

"Whatever lady!" the girl said as she walked out, and if Talina look through her belongings, she'll notice something might be missing. "Sierra!" A little Muggle cried out as he flew into the sky over the city, "Sierra, where are you?" The little furball whimpered, and then he looked down to see two humans, "Maybe I'll ask around!" He said as he flew downward.

Ah, why were inns so troublesome to locate? They could at least have a sign of some sort! Sighing, Alkim put his bag down by the fountain in the center of the market place, eyes scanning over the townsfolk. His eyes caught the two girls that bumped into each other outside the shop he just saw, making him frown slightly and pay closer attention. If any kind of fight would break out, he would be sure to stop them. They were too young to end their quarrels in fights just yet! Ah, who to ask about directions to an inn, though... He looked around for anyone close enough to question.

"Okay, let's see here..." Danari looked through a bag he was holding, sighing. "Too bad that I lost Lukahn's canoe just before I got here... I'm stuck here for the time being, due to that bridge being out." With nothing else to purchase for the day, he walked over to the square, where he could see a man standing near the fountain. That guy looks tough... I'd best ignore him. he thought to himself, as he lowered his hat so that it covered his eyes.

Talina nodded, walking towards the area in which the man pointed to. She paused for a moment. "Do me a favor, Oharu, and go follow that girl. She seems to have stolen my pendant." She didn't need to be a pychic to know that, at any rate. After all, she was just holding it. And then it disappeared. The culprit?...make a guess... Oharu nodded and replied with a 'meow', and then sprinted outside. She blinked as her head hit something soft yet strong. "Meow?" Oharu looked up at a blonde man near a fountain. Grabbing the book, Talina presented the item to the shopkeeper. "How many gils?"
